Virgin Hotels Las Vegas: A Dog-Friendly Vegas Stay with Plenty of Personality
Las Vegas is usually associated with late nights, pool parties, steakhouses and the kind of excess that does not immediately suggest a relaxing trip with your dog.
But then there is Virgin Hotels Las Vegas.
Just off the Strip on Paradise Road, the resort has a completely different rhythm from many of the giant hotels along Las Vegas Boulevard. There are still cocktails, casino tables, DJs, pools and late-night entertainment, but the property feels more relaxed and approachable. And importantly for anyone who travels with a four-legged companion, dogs are welcome in designated rooms and suites.
That made it the perfect place to celebrate a very special birthday.
Biscuit, the dog, turned three.
Or, as we like to say, 21 in dog years.
And Virgin Hotels Las Vegas made sure he felt like the guest of honor.
A Birthday for Biscuit
Arriving at a hotel with your dog can sometimes feel like you are quietly asking permission to bring your pet along.
That was not the feeling here.
Biscuit was greeted with his own gift bag filled with treats, a collar and a bandana. It was a small gesture, but one that immediately changed the tone of the stay. He was not simply allowed to be there. He was part of the experience.
Virgin Hotels currently allows up to two dogs in its designated dog-friendly Chambers and suites, with a daily pet fee. Dogs must remain on a leash while on the property and cannot be left unattended in a room unless they are in a kennel or carrier. The hotel's policy also notes that dogs cannot enter food-and-beverage venues, the spa or pool areas except when passing through, due to health regulations.
For us, that meant planning the day around Biscuit while still having plenty of places to enjoy together, including time in the room, walks around the property and the dog-friendly aspects of the stay.
And honestly, Biscuit seemed perfectly happy with the arrangement.
Especially once he saw the view.
Our Room: The Corner King in Ruby Tower
We stayed in the Ruby King Corner Chamber Suite, in Ruby Tower, which is Virgin Hotels' all-suite building.
At 757 square feet, the Corner King is considerably larger than a typical Vegas hotel room. It has a separate living area, sleeping lounge, dressing space and bathroom, with the kind of layout that makes a multi-day stay feel much easier. The official room description confirms the suite's expansive living area, separate sleeping lounge, private dressing space and soaking tub.
The living room gave us somewhere to actually sit and relax rather than spending the entire stay on the bed.
Then there was the king bed, a large bathroom with soaking tub and a dedicated dressing area.
But the feature that Biscuit approved of most?
The view.
From the corner windows, we could see the Sphere in the distance, which gave the room an unmistakably Las Vegas backdrop.
There is something about waking up and seeing the Sphere from your hotel room that immediately reminds you where you are. You can have a quiet morning with your coffee, your dog beside you, and still have that unmistakable Vegas skyline outside.
Ruby Tower itself is designed as an all-suite building and has dedicated check-in, convenient access to the pool and spa, additional closet space and pet-friendly accommodation options.
For a longer weekend, the extra space makes a noticeable difference.
Dog-Friendly Vegas, Without Giving Up the Fun
One of the things I liked most about Virgin Hotels Las Vegas was that bringing Biscuit did not mean giving up the feeling of having a proper Vegas weekend.
The hotel is a resort in its own right, with restaurants, bars, pools, entertainment, a casino and spa. The property currently has around 1,500 Chambers and suites spread across three towers, along with a 60,000-square-foot casino and sportsbook and a five-acre pool complex.
But it never felt as though we were trapped in one enormous resort machine.
Everything felt a little more manageable.
A little more personal.
And for a dog-friendly trip, that matters.
Kassi Beach House: Brunch, Dinner and a Little Taste of Italy
One of our favorite stops was Kassi Beach House.
The restaurant brings coastal Italian cooking to the resort, with a menu inspired by the relaxed feeling of an Italian seaside destination. It opens from late morning through dinner, with brunch served daily.
We came here for brunch, and it was exactly the kind of Vegas meal I enjoy: relaxed, social and easy to settle into.
And yes, Biscuit came along with us.
For anyone planning their own stay with a dog, there is an important practical caveat. The hotel's current pet policy says dogs are not permitted inside food-and-beverage outlets except when passing through, so dog-friendly seating and access should be confirmed with the property when making a reservation.
Beyond the restaurant, Kassi also connects directly to the pool experience, making it easy to move between lunch, drinks and a day in the sun.
Kassi Beach Club
Kassi Beach Club is a completely different experience from a standard hotel pool.
It is an adults-only, 21+ pool experience designed around the idea of a Mediterranean beach escape. There is soft sand, lush landscaping, DJs and a menu of food and cocktails from Kassi Beach House. The current season operates daily from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
It feels deliberately more like a beach club than a hotel swimming pool.
The music is part of it. So are the loungers, the drinks and the easy transition from pool to restaurant.
It is a good choice when you want the Vegas pool scene but do not necessarily want to spend the afternoon at a huge party.
For us, it was another part of the resort that made the stay feel varied. You could have a quiet morning, go for brunch, spend the afternoon around the pool and then get dressed for dinner without ever needing to leave the property.
The Main Pool and Our Cabana
The main pool has a completely different personality.
It is larger, livelier and more social, with cabanas, poolside dining, cocktails and music. The hotel describes it as a modern tropical oasis located near Ruby Tower.
We had a cabana, which made the whole experience much more comfortable.
There is something very Vegas about having your own shaded space beside a pool, ordering drinks, listening to a DJ and watching the afternoon unfold.
The main pool is the place I would choose when you want more energy.
Kassi Beach Club feels like an adults-only Mediterranean escape.
The main pool feels more like Vegas.
Having both options on the same property is one of the hotel's strengths.
One Steakhouse
For dinner, ONE Steakhouse was our choice when we wanted something more polished.
Created by restaurateurs Michael and David Morton, ONE Steakhouse brings the classic American steakhouse experience into Virgin Hotels Las Vegas, with a more contemporary setting. The restaurant remains one of the property's signature dining destinations.
This is where you leave the pool clothes behind, get dressed up and settle into a proper dinner.
It is also a useful contrast to Kassi Beach House.
Kassi is casual and coastal.
ONE is the evening.
For anyone planning a Vegas trip, I like having both within the same hotel. You do not need to commit every night to the same style of dining.
Lucia Mexican Grill
Then there is Lucia Mexican Grill, which brings a completely different mood.
The restaurant focuses on modern Mexican flavors, with dishes including queso birria tacos, fire-grilled arrachera and ribeye aguachile, alongside a full cocktail menu. In 2026, Lucia also introduced a taco truck outside the restaurant and Lucia Fría, a quick-service bar serving frozen drinks.
Lucia is also more casual than ONE Steakhouse, making it a good option for a night when you want something flavorful without turning dinner into a formal occasion.
Its open-air patio overlooks the resort pool, which adds another nice layer to the experience.
And the restaurant now serves its Fiesta Brunch on weekends, with Mexican-inspired breakfast dishes, bottomless mimosas and live music.
The Lobby Bar
Vegas hotels need a good bar.
The lobby bar here is the kind of place that works before dinner, after dinner or simply because you feel like having a cocktail.
It has a more relaxed atmosphere than a nightclub, which I appreciated. You can sit down, order a well-made drink and actually have a conversation.
That is not always the easiest thing to find in Las Vegas.
The resort has several different bars and lounges, so the lobby is also a useful starting point before deciding what kind of night you want.
The Shag Room
Then there is The Shag Room.
This was one of my favorite places for the evening.
It has the feeling of a speakeasy-style bar, with a more intimate atmosphere than the huge clubs associated with Las Vegas. The hotel describes it as an intimate cocktail lounge and one of its dedicated entertainment spaces.
There is live music at night, which adds to the atmosphere without making it overwhelming.
And that is really the point.
The Shag Room is great for younger travelers who want to go out in Vegas but do not necessarily want to spend the night in a massive nightclub.
You can dress up, order cocktails, listen to music and actually talk to the people you are with.
It is a very different version of a Vegas night out.
More intimate.
More relaxed.
And, in my opinion, much easier to enjoy for a few hours.
A Day at the Spa
After the pool, cocktails and late nights, we made time for the spa.
And it was exactly what we needed.
I had a massage at The Spa, and it was wonderfully relaxing.
The spa is located on the second floor of Ruby Tower, and its design draws on a Roman-style bathhouse, which gives the space a completely different feeling from the rest of Las Vegas. The current spa offers massages, facials, body treatments and a signature Roman-style bath experience.
The bathhouse design is one of the things that stayed with me.
You go from the bright lights and energy of Vegas into a quieter world of stone, water and treatment rooms.
It is a reminder that a Vegas trip does not have to be nonstop.
You can actually slow down.
A Spa Day Without Staying at the Hotel
Another nice feature is that the spa also offers access for non-hotel guests, with wellness classes currently complimentary for registered hotel guests and available to non-registered guests for a fee.
So if you are visiting Las Vegas and want to build a wellness day into your itinerary, you can make The Spa part of the plan even if you are not staying overnight.
For hotel guests, it is even easier.
You can spend the morning at the spa, have a massage, take some time with the Roman-style bath experience and then move into lunch or a quiet afternoon by the pool.
It makes for a very good reset.
The Perfect Balance: Vegas and Wellness
That balance is probably what I appreciated most about Virgin Hotels Las Vegas.
You can have a completely Vegas evening.
Cocktails.
Live music.
Steak dinner.
Poolside drinks.
Late nights.
And then the following morning you can have a massage, take a wellness class or simply sit quietly with a coffee.
The hotel's current wellness program includes meditation, stretching, sound healing, yoga and Pilates, with classes complimentary for registered guests.
That makes the resort surprisingly well suited to a trip where you want to mix going out with taking care of yourself.
And Then There Was Biscuit
Of course, for us, the biggest difference was having Biscuit along.
His third birthday became part of the trip rather than something we had to celebrate separately at home.
The welcome gift bag, the room, the view and the fact that the hotel genuinely accommodates dogs made the stay feel much more personal.
Biscuit had his own birthday weekend in Vegas.
And he approved.
Especially of that Sphere view.
Why I Would Return
Virgin Hotels Las Vegas has a personality that works particularly well for travelers who want several different versions of Vegas in one trip.
You can stay in a spacious suite in Ruby Tower, have brunch at Kassi Beach House, spend the afternoon at a cabana by the main pool, choose the adults-only Kassi Beach Club when you want something more beach-club oriented, have dinner at ONE Steakhouse or Lucia, and finish the evening with live music and cocktails at The Shag Room.
Then you can wake up and go to the spa.
That is a pretty good Vegas itinerary.
And if you are traveling with a dog, there is the added bonus of not having to leave your best friend at home.
Virgin Hotels Las Vegas is a fun place to bring your dog, but it is also a genuinely good Vegas hotel even without that angle.
For us, though, Biscuit's birthday made the stay especially memorable.
He arrived to a welcome gift bag, settled into our Corner King suite in Ruby Tower, looked out at the Sphere and somehow managed to have a more glamorous 21st birthday than most people.
For the humans, there was plenty to enjoy too.
A beautiful suite.
Kassi Beach House.
ONE Steakhouse.
Lucia Mexican Grill.
A cabana by the main pool.
The adults-only Kassi Beach Club.
Cocktails in the lobby.
Live music at The Shag Room.
And a massage at the spa that was exactly the quiet break we needed.
That is what makes this property work.
It gives you the fun parts of Las Vegas without insisting that every minute has to be loud.
You can party.
You can eat well.
You can spend the afternoon by the pool.
You can disappear into the spa for a few hours.
And, yes, you can bring the dog.
For our little family, that made Virgin Hotels Las Vegas feel like much more than a place to sleep in between Vegas plans.
It became part of the birthday celebration.
