Warredal Maaseik: A Back-to-Nature Escape in the Belgian Forests
This summer, my boyfriend and I spent 2 nights at Warredal, Limburg, Belgium. We stayed at a wellness cabin for 2.
On the first day we arrived, after checking in with friendly staff at the reception, we got picked up by a car from the property to drop us and the luggages at our cabin which is a bit on the hill.
Once we arrived at the cabin, we put our bags away, and prepared to go grocery shopping for our dinner. On the way back to our car, we passed by a farm to see the goats, alpacas, and some cute ponies. The farm was well looked-after.
We spent our time cooking together. There were already cooking gadgets available to use, and some essential ingredients like coffee ground, and sugar. It was so nice to slowly cook, with no rush, and we lit the romantic candle lights on.
After that we spent the rest of the evening in jacuzzi and sauna in the cabin. Afterward, we felt lighter, so was our mind.
On the second day, we woke up early to start the day as we planned to bike 40 km around Limburg. There were a few choices of bikes, from traditional city bike to mountain bikes, and e-bikes. We picked the traditional bikes. We did a circular route from and to the cabin. The friendly receptionist gave us the map, and recommended us on multiple routes to take, and we picked the one through the forest to the river.
Half a day passed by, we stopped at a cafe at the train station to cool down and rest. We finished our tour by 5 pm.
Of course, the whole day outdoor sports made us super hungry once we arrived at the cabin. We immediately lit up the BBQ stove. Since it is an electric BBQ, we got to eat in no time…a plus!
We repeated the ritual from the first day to enjoy our evening in a jacuzzi and a sauna. Only this time, it was needed…
We had our best sleep in weeks!
The next day it was time for us to leave this cozy place. We checked out at 9.30am as we had another schedule for outdoor sports in Dinant with some friends.
The check out process was smooth and quick.
We left the cabin feeling super connected to ourselves, together, and refreshed!
